Frequently Asked Questions

Hospice Home, our inpatient hospice care, is a form of care provided in a specialized facility for patients whose symptoms require a higher level of medical care than what can be provided at home. This type of care focuses on managing acute pain and other complications related to a terminal illness, all within an environment designed to feel as comfortable and familiar as possible.

At Hospice of Lenawee, our inpatient home was created so that patients and their families can continue to share meaningful moments together, even during the most difficult times.

Our hospice home may be the right choice when a patient's pain or symptoms become difficult to manage in their current living situation. It is also appropriate when medication adjustments require frequent monitoring, or when a patient needs short-term stabilization and guidance following a hospitalization.

Additionally, inpatient care can serve as a supportive option when a primary caregiver needs time to attend to personal matters or travel, or when a patient is nearing the end of their life and prefers not to remain at home.

Most patients stay in our hospice home for a short period, typically less than two weeks. The length of their stay depends on each individual's care needs and circumstances. If a transition to another care setting becomes necessary, our staff works closely with patients and families to coordinate a smooth and safe transfer process.
