No special skills or medical training are required. Prospective volunteers will need to fill out a Volunteer Application and meet with the Director of Volunteers. Volunteers complete a background check, including fingerprinting, and undergo a TB test. Volunteers must complete our Volunteer Training program, which is offered each Spring and Fall.

Volunteer Training is offered each Spring and Fall. It consists of 24 hours of training, which is completed over four days (once per week for four consecutive weeks from 9:00am–4:00pm at the HOL office).

During training, you will learn about hospice care and how Hospice of Lenawee provides the highest quality of care to patients at the end-of-life.

Volunteers will learn about our services from our team, including presentations by a Social Worker, Spiritual Care Coordinator, our Medical Director, Bereavement team, Leaders, and several seasoned Volunteers.

Our goal is to provide you with comprehensive training, so you feel prepared and confident in supporting our Mission.

We do not require volunteers to commit to a minimum number of hours. Volunteer opportunities are flexible around most schedules, and the commitment will depend on the volunteer role.
